Modern Arnis is a system of Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) founded by Professor Remy Presas. Modern Arnis is a self-defense system. The goal in Modern Arnis' creation was to develop a training method that would minimalize training injures while still holding true as an effective self-defense system. In totality, Modern Arnis' creation and implementation was done with the not so simple task of preserving the older Arnis systems throughout the Philippines and the world.
Modern Arnis, as it stands today, can trace its origins back to the traditional Presas family style of the Bolo and Balintawak Eskrima, with influences from other Filipino and Japanese arts.
